Burn your Recipes Giveaway

477d0a67e7ba8d4b962422d83071743a

I am so happy to be able to introduce you to Chef Todd Mohr! He has created an amazing DVD series called Burn Your Recipes. It is a three DVD set that includes a over sixty, 15-20 minute, cooking lessons. Perfect for busy mommas in the kitchen.

The first disc starts off with the basic tools that you need in your kitchen. It also includes food safety and lessons on the many ways to use a knife in the kitchen. By the end of the third disc I had learned not only fantastic, basics in the kitchen, but also a ton of core techniques that can be used to build my own recipes.

I have always though myself to be a competent cook. However, with this cooking series, I realized I had a lot to learn. I was able to learn in small lessons that I could fit in when I had time. I learned how to be more efficient in the kitchen. This has allowed me to cook tasty, healthier meals for my family using primarily fresh ingredients. It now takes me the same time to cook using fresh, unprocessed, foods as it did to open cans.

This cooking series goes way beyond just putting food together and teaches you how to function in the kitchen. From tools to terminology, Chef Mohr gives interesting and concise instruction to help you maximize your time and effectiveness in the kitchen.

In addition to the Burn Your Recipes DVD series, Chef Mohr has created additional instructional DVDs as well as Online Weekly Cooking Lessons on his website. Thanks to Chef Todd Mohr for providing me with a set of Burn Your Recipes DVDs to review. I am a better, more effective cook now!

Hi Lisa!
I'm so excited to be giving away a DVD series to a lucky subscriber of Home Made Hodgepodge!

Written recipes won't teach you to cook any more than having sheet music will teach you to play piano.

The biggest frustration for the home cook isn't cooking, it's following the written recipe. Recipes have inherent flaws and variables that make them impossible to duplicate and always let you down.

When a recipe calls for "one onion, chopped", how big is this onion? When a recipe says "cook under medium heat", how do you define medium? And, worst of all is cooking by time. "Saute for 3-5 minutes" can mean raw or burned depending on the stove, pan, ingredient, etc...

Why is cooking the only art form that has a strict set of instructions? You'd never tell a painter to "paint with 1.7 ounces of green paint for 22 minutes, and you'll have a landscape". No, he'll use as much green paint for as long as he wants until the landscape is complete. This is how people should cook.

I've taught thousands of people to "Burn Your Recipes" and cook like a chef at home, with basic cooking methods and the ingredients you desire.

Concentrate on the basic cooking methods of saute, steaming, braising, roasting, grilling, poaching, simmering and you can create an infinate amount of recipes that a book will never tell you.

I think the Burn Your Recipes DVDs are the most beneficial in my situation. As the wife to an aspiring chef who knows a lot more than most, and rarely, if ever, follows a recipe....this would be interesting to see how much he really knows before he starts culinary school next year.
